Talking to Cows
#1
Okay... its been too long since I posted a work in progress, so Smile

Driving to work past the shrinking fields
Subdivisions growing faster than weeds
I always liked the cows living in peace
Though I can't but help notice the fences

Big grown eyes looked at me, and impulsively I said
I don't envy you this wild weather, or your final end
Those eyes said they lived as they were made

(They said)

-------
My coat's as warm as sunshine and its leather underneath
The sky is my possession and this grass smells so sweet
I know who and whose I am, I know love and tender sounds
And you're the one TALKING TO COWS
--------

As I passed the no left and speed limit signs
and sat there at the slowest traffic light
rushed through some prayers, took a quick bite
Heading to work in my regular pen

Saw my face in the mirror and I asked
When the evening sky turns dark and the last bill is paid
Will I say I lived as I was made?

(They said)

----------
My coat's as warm as sunshine and its leather underneath
The sky is my possession and this grass smells so sweet
I know who and whose I am, I know love and tender sounds
And you're the one TALKING TO COWS
---------

As I motored down the so called freeway
As I motored down the so called freeway
As I and a few thousand too familiar strangers
motored down the so called freeway
Did you ever wonder about the toll?

(They said)

----------
My coat's as warm as sunshine and its leather underneath
The sky is my possession and this grass smells so sweet
I know who and whose I am, I know love and tender sounds
And you're the one TALKING TO COWS
You can learn a lot TALKING TO COWS

Love it!  Definitely original and a great example of writing outside of the box.

Thanks Peter! At least I got that going... not sure how everyone would react Smile but it was fun to let my inner child play... Going to go with a country vibe of course.

Well all I can say is this song is a lot of fun. I used to play in country bands years ago and we always had a song in our roster that was fun to listen too and sing along with. People loved it and it sure brightened the mood of any place we were at. Thanks for posting! I would like to hear what you do with it. God bless!

Dig it! Perhaps a little more work with the tenses?
I am a damp hamster, a small moist rodent with a pea-sized brain... so what do I know?!
