Born to Rise

Music/composition: Warren Jurgens
Words: me

Verse 1

See shepherds guarding sheep tonight
So suddenly aghast with fright
Astounded by celesti'al light
Halleluia

Verse 2

Hear angel's joyous voice proclaim
This blessed night the Savior came!
This world will never be the same.
Halleluia

(Refrain)

Halleluia, Halleluia,
Halleluia, Halleluia

Verse 3

O Morning Star for all to see
God's only Son, how can this be?
He bears our burdens, sets us free.
Halleluia

Verse 4

What love required our Savior's birth?
This gift of Christ reveals our worth
Rejoice! He reconciles the Earth.
Halleluia

(Refrain)
Halleluia, Halleluia,
Halleluia, Halleluia

Verse 5

Christ, born for us and born to rise!
His precious Word will make us wise.
He saves our souls and heals our lives!
Halleluia

Verse 6

Immanuel, incarnate King!
There's nothing here that we can bring
Except ourselves, so let us sing.
Halleluia

(Refrain)
Halleluia, Halleluia,
Halleluia, Halleluia

Yes, beautiful! Now I'm curious what it would sound like with the woman & man together! But she did a great job!

Hi Shannon....The Holy Spirit's fingerprints are on this one.

I am relying on the Lord to promote it somehow...in time and His way.  Maybe with duet as you mentioned.

Technically it is a hymn and I pray it will make its way to a hymn book or print as a choral piece.

Our church choir here in Kansas sang it for Christmas and all seemed to like it.   Thanks for listening and commenting

Blessings,

Hi,

I could easily hear this on the radio...Natalie Grant... :-)

My only critique is wording and ithat may only stem from my own writing style and what I would say/write. If this song was given to me to record these are the things that I would want to change:

Rremoving the word "so" on the second line of the first verse.
Use "the world" instead of "this world" in third line of verse two
Play on the words in verse five with born to "die" instead of rise. Although,  it seems that it is written with "the bigger picture" in mind.

Again, these are minor things that I would do.

This is an excellent song.

Bryan,

Great suggestions, all.  If done again will incorporate these.

Originally I wrote it as Born to die (which has been said in another song before.)  The Holy Spirit would not let me leave Jesus in the ground....hence "born to rise".

Another version one day could be, "Christ born to die and born to rise....."

Thank you for comments.  I hope Natalie Grant will discover this song one day per your suggestion.
