Carry The Cross
#1
Here is a new original song written and mixed by me; performed by Scandalous Grace.  Let me know what you think of the mix on this one.

https://soundcloud.com/michaeljhanson/carry-the-cross

Scandalous Grace is:
Sean Peifer: BG Vox, Electric Rhythm, Guitar Solo.
Michael Hanson: Lead Vocal, Bass, Acoustic Rhythm, Intro Solo, Drum Programing, Mixing and mastering.
Reece Bain: Keys and BGVs.

Chorus:
You carried the cross on your back;
You carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.
You carried the cross on your back;
You shed a tear for the sinfulness of man.

Verse 1:
You came for me, to set me free.
Your love is the only thing that I will ever need.
You gave me grace, came to this place.
You gave me life for a debt I can't repay.

Chorus:
You carried the cross on your back;
You carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.
You carried the cross on your back;
You shed a tear for the sinfulness of man.

Verse 2:
You are his Son, begotten Son.
No one shall enter unless its through the Son.
You gave me Grace, which I can't repay.
Your kingdom will endure and forever reign.

Chorus:
You carried the cross on your back;
You carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.
You carried the cross on your back;
You shed a tear for the sinfulness of man.

Mike,

I could not get your SoundCloud link to work...here's some small, nits...keep or sweep!...good song idea...

Chorus:
You carried the cross on your back;
You carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.  (Changed verb tense.....yes He carried the weight of sin...does this mean He still is doing this?  Or is it finished?)
You carried the cross on your back;
You shed a tear for the sinfulness of man.   (One tear?  ....not very descriptive....as this word picture /imagery must be here in your  "take it home" line in a chorus)

Verse 1:
You came for me, to set me free.
Your love is the only thing that I will ever need.  (meter not same as verse 2 line 2)
You gave me grace, came to this place. (meter not same as verse 3 line 3)
You gave me life for a debt I can't repay. (meter not same as verse 4 line 4)

Chorus:
You carried the cross on your back;
You carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.
You carried the cross on your back;
You shed a tear for the sinfulness of man.

Verse 2:
You are his Son, begotten Son.
No one shall enter unless its through the Son. (Used this rhyme ending Son above already) (You moved to future tense here......maybe a bridge should do this)
You gave me Grace, which I can't repay.
Your kingdom will endure and forever reign. (future tense)

Chorus:
You carried the cross on your back;
You carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.
You carried the cross on your back;
You shed a tear for the sinfulness of man.

I believe that Reece has fixed the link for me, thanks for pointing out. Hopefully, now that you can hear it, you will like it better. If not, we will just have to disagree on the lyrics; I won't be changing them at this point. I really like the way it goes from past to future.
