I thought you might be referring to something else. It's all good!

tpistilli and gdball - after reading your critiques, I decided to go back and (a) lower the volume level of the bass synth, (b) reduce the treble of the bass synth, and © slightly increase the bass tone of the bass synth. I think it's a big improvement - the vocals stand out more, the bass is still prominent, and as a bonus, the horns stand out more! Of course, it's all keyboard, so when I say "horns" or any other instrument (except obvious synth), know that it's simulated. Here's how the song sounds now:

Thanks so much for your input; it really helped! One more thing, gdball...that "Muppet Show" analogy was hilarious!

This version is definitely better IMO.

Check out this technique for getting the vocals to sit more up front in the mix. I use this and love it!

Very informative video - thanks for posting it!

Using compression right without squashing the audio definitely takes some skill.

No doubt. I'm still learning it. Takes some practice. I've found that subtle is key.

Hey Kenny! this IS just a fun song! very good performances - good arrangement.

I listened to your new mix, not the original. even in your remix, I think the synth is overpowering everything, especially the bass and the "trumpets"

also, your vocals sound like they were recorded in a room with a lot of reflections, and possibly not close enough to the mic.

these are just my opinions - love the song! great, fun tune!

Thanks for listening, and thanks for your critique!

After doing a lot of listening, I feel that the new mix is balanced quite well, and sounds the way I want it to sound, so I'm going to stick with it.
