In His Hands

Verse 1
May the Good LORD bless and keep you
May He make His face shine upon you
May the Lord be gracious and give you peace
And give you peace, and give you peace, and give you peace

CHORUS
You’re in His hands
You’re in His hands
Don’t have to worry
Cause He has a plan
He really loves
He really cares
You don’t have to worry
Cause you’re in His hands

Verse 2
May the Good LORD bless and keep us
May He make His face shine upon us
May the Lord be gracious and give us peace
And give us peace, and give us peace, and give us peace

CHORUS 2
We’re in His hands
We’re in His hands
Don’t have to worry
Cause He has a plan
He really loves
He really cares
We don’t have to worry
Cause we’re in His hands

Bridge
How good it is to be in His hands
How good it is to be in His hands

CHORUS

Great scripture on which to base a song. Love the harmony. Makes me wish I could sing harmony. I'm terrible at it.

Hmmmm.........

What would you think about making the chorus and verse as different musically as they are in the song "Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone"? What I'm thinking is that the tonal structure of the verse and chorus is very similar - enough so that it comes across as AAAAbA to me. Yet lyrically the verse and chorus are ABABcB.

Change it musically to ABABAB? I personally would leave the A alone and change the B. Move the sentiment of "How good it is to be in his hands" into the B part. Then instead of a bridge make the last "A" acapella or nearly so, and make the last B larger and climactic with an outdo? Some such?

I think there is an opportunity for new imagery in each last line of the A part, something like:

May the Good LORD bless and keep you
May He make His face shine upon you
May the Lord be gracious and give you peace
Take your most hopeless lonely day and give you peace

Not thrilled with:

He really loves
He really cares

Only because the totality of the B part needs a less well used expression IMO. Something that hits close to home for you? I can 't put myself there for you, but something like:

We’re in His hands
We’re in His hands
Don’t have to worry
Cause He has a plan
When we watch the news
Let a child out to face the world
We don’t have to worry
Cause we’re in His hands

As always - mucho caveats, what do I know, etc.
Regards,
Greg
