Posted by: 4HisGlory - 01-16-2016, 02:34 AM - Forum: Hello My Name is... - Replies (9)

Hello to everyone. My name is Chris Story and I write songs and perform them anywhere God allows me too.I do this to glorify Christ as we are told to do in scripture.Thats why my username is 4HisGlory.
I was born and raised in a small town in middle Tennessee called Waverly about sixty-five mies west of Nashville.
I started singing and playing guitar when I was nine years old and played in local rock bands during my school years. Then in country bands after I got married for a few years.Eventually going solo and traveling playing gigs on the road with my wife as my manager. Then I did demo vocals in Nashville for various songwriters for a few years.
Then about five years ago I was led to start writing and performing my own songs.
My wife and I live alone and do various jobs in our church.
We have two children(boy and girl) a daughter in-law,and a new granddaughter.

This is another song from the Rock Musical "No Other Way" that I'm writing:

THEY DON’T WANT ME

Words and Music by Peter Merz

(JESUS)
Sun comes up, one more day
Crowds keep pressing in
Wanting a power play
As they keep pushing in
No time for R and R
No time to even breathe
It’s all I can do just not to scream:
“What on earth do you want from me?”

Chorus 1:
Oh, they want a king
They want a superhero
They want a Judas Maccabees
A kingdom they can touch and see
Oh, they want a king
They want a superhero
All they want are my miracles
But they don’t want, they don’t want Me...
They don't want Me

Sun comes up, one more day
Crowds keep pressing in
But nothing ever seems to change
The stuff of earth’s blinding them
Darker days wait ahead
The time’s already set
But now I am getting misread
How easily they forget

Chorus 2:
Oh, they want a warrior
They want a superhero
They want a Judas Maccabees
Who can bring Rome to her knees
Oh, they want a warrior
They want a superhero
Seeking signs and miracles
Miracles that they can see...
That they can see

Bridge:
Father, this seems impossible
Please take this curse from Me
Oh, they cling to earthly things
And turn their backs on eternity

Chorus 3:
Oh, they want a warrior
They want a superhero
They want a Judas Maccabees
Who can bring Rome to her knees
Oh, they want a warrior
They want a superhero
Seeking signs and miracles
But they don’t want, they don’t want Me...
They don't want Me

Hi my name is Peter Merz.

I've been doing this songwriting thing for a little over two decades now.

I hail from Bangor, Maine -- grew up on Southern California.  Went to college in California, Kentucky, and Maine.

I have a background in Creative Writing, Journalism, and the "occasional" pushing of the envelope ;-)

I'm married to a wonderful woman and have two children who dabble songwriting with me from time to time.

I have two digital albums ("Odyssey" and "Sign of Jonah" under Scribe and Sage Music/Scribe and Sage) available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Currently working on a Rock Musical based upon Passion of Jesus Christ called "No Other Way"

Blessings,

Peter

Welcome to the CSN Songwriting Challenge Sub Forum!
I have encountered on CSN various philosophies when it comes to how to improve your songwriting skills, and how to best use the forum.
One is to write, receive feedback, and with the information gathered, hone each song until it is polished.
Another is to write, write, write... lots of songs, receive feedback, and learn from that feedback for future writing, but not get bogged down in any song.  Just keep writing and growing.

There are benefits for both and a little of each goes a long way toward developing skill.

A weekly or even monthly challenge leans toward the write, write, write! Philosophy.   Then, if you happen to generate a song that piques interest, inspires a rewrite and feels worthy of honing, great!

If you would like to join the CSN Songwriting Challenge as a regular participant, sign in in response to this Thread.
If you just want to participate in an interesting prompt as it arise then reply to the thread of that particular challenge.

Instructions will be provided with each challenge.

If you have ideas for challenges/ prompts please deposit them in the CSN Songwriting Challenge Prompt Bank.

  Hello My Name Is...BEAGLE!
Posted by: Beagle - 01-15-2016, 08:30 PM - Forum: Hello My Name is... - Replies (10)

Hello! I'll be the first to introduce myself!

My name is Beagle aka Reece Bain!  Beagle is my nickname!

I am an Electronics Engineer and I live in Ft. Worth, TX.  I am married to a beautiful wife since 1990 and we have 4 children, 2 are my stepsons, 1 adopted daughter and 1 son between us (our adopted daughter, actually has gone to be with Jesus!).  We have 3 grandchildren, but we don't have contact with 2 of them.

I've been singing all of my life.  I lead worship as fill in or interim for area churches and I am a keyboard player and praise team member of the church where we are members.

I have been writing songs for about 12 years and I have a small studio ran out of my home.  You can find my studio information here:  http://www.beaglesound.com

I grew up in rural east Tennessee in a small church (about 35+ attendance!) where my dad was a deacon and the treasurer and the groundskeeper and my mom was the pianist.

I did leave the church for many years as a young adult, but was gently lead back to Him by the wonderful woman I met and married over 25 years ago!

I took over this Christian songwriting ministry from James Moore whose health prevented him from continuing.  I hope to be able to continue this ministry for many years helping network Christian songwriters with each other and resources they need to fulfill their calling!

Thank you for joining and God bless!
