Cutting-Edge-Music - Music for the times we live in!

Alternative Christian music composed in an attractive style to draw hearts to Jesus Christ.

I am honored to express words and music that highlight the Creator of the Heavens, the Earth and all things in them by proclaiming Jesus Christ!

The words and melodies express life’s experiences as a result of daily reading Gods Scriptures.

These songs are not the typical conventional pop worship tunes but may be classified as short skits that match the mood of discoveries I made while enjoying passions and experiences that draw me closer to knowing Jesus!

1.     Touch the Sky – God has incredibly set up His presence everywhere in the world for anyone at any time to see His greatnessThere is no excuse that man can come up with to deny this!   When you’re blocked in and have nowhere to go!   Reach for Jesus in the heavens and He will come to your rescue!  Romans 1:18-20.

2.     Just DustWhen we look for glamour and fame, we lose out on our treasure Jesus!   Do not seek after fame or glamour but seek after the Lord Jesus!   We are not to be worshiped!  Remember that we are formed from the dust and Jesus restores our soul to new life and is the only one to be worshiped!  Psalm 29:2.

3.     Who Am IFor the searching soul trying to find their purpose in life and where they are going! The narrative of the song begins by asking the question, who am I?   Then the questioning person dialogues with God of the heavens declaring that he or she is down here, don’t forget me!  Then God answers with hope by saying forever I love you and will take you through life’s trials!   But the searching person continues, with unsettled questions staring back at them screaming for answers!  There is a passionate plea of wonder where the compass is to find purpose in life.  John 14:6

4.     Melt DownWhen a culture chooses freedom and independence apart from God, whose moral conscience has deteriorated and deadened to the point where it can’t discern good from evil!  Hebrews 5:14.

5.     Help is on the wayHelp is on the way! Trials are only for a time and the Lord will see us thru them!  Psalm 33:18.

6.     Wake up ChurchAn appeal to the sleeping church to rise up as we have been brought with a price, (His blood), and are not be lukewarm but stand up for righteousness!   Ephesians 5:14.  We are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.   Matthew 5:14.

7.     Fight till the end Run that race in the power of the Holy Spirit!  Our culture is stealing our souls and transforming us into the world’s values!  Keep your eyes on the prize Jesus!  1st Timothy 6:12.

8.     The Great I Am - Describes the RETURN of Christ in the air, in the clouds for His Bride to rescue them from His Wrath during the tribulation period where many refuse to repent!  Ephesians 5:25-27.

9.     Wrestle not against flesh & bloodA song describing spiritual Warfare in the unseen world!   The remedy for the Christian is to put on the full armor of God as described in Ephesians 6:10 – 18.

10.  Remember Me An upbeat song based on Psalm 13 for those that think God has forgotten them!

11.  Battle of the MindDescribe the heaviness of trials and the downward pull of emotions and confusion one goes through during battles.  Before we go down too far in damaging thoughts, we can call on the name of the Lord and be lifted up before we get caught in the downward spiral of self-pity!   Galatians 5:17.

12.  Kids Dream TooFor those parents that want their kid’s dreams to be fulfilled in Christ with no regrets.   Proverbs 22:6.

13.  Marriage SongScripture is used as the foundation to encourage and assist in reconciliation when a relationship gets wounded.   Mark 10:5,   Ephesians 5:31-33.

14.  Breath of GodDescribes God in His perfect Creation, the rebellion of man and the mercy of our Lord coming to earth to die for us!  Genesis 3:15.

Hey guys!

I'm not technically new, but it's been quite a long time since I've visited this site. I've recently gotten back into songwriting, and I hope that I've improved, and possibly matured, since my last time of being here.

I'd love to get to know you all and share some ideas with this awesome community. I hope to be able to contribute songs as well as offer some advice on others' songs. I suppose that's all for now, cheers!

Love vs. hate

Intro:

So many bombs fly and so many people die
Children starve while their mothers can only cry
Terror finds its way into everyday life
Its message of destruction and death cuts like a knife

But we don’t have to accept our world’s hate
Because God’s Love

Led David to conquer Goliath, Moses to part the sea
Led Jesus to rise above dying saving you and me
So understand when they come face to face
God’s Love obliterates hate
God’s Love obliterates hate

Politics divides us tweets spread anger all around
We hide behind our parties trust can’t be found
Judgement based on color won’t go away
The resulting dissension can’t be held at bay

But we don’t have to accept our world’s hate
 Because God’s Love

Led David to conquer Goliath, Moses to part the sea
Led Jesus to rise above dying saving you and me
So understand when they come face to face
God’s Love obliterates hate
God’s Love obliterates hate

We can stamp out all the wickedness
We just need to have the willingness
To raise one hand to The Almighty above
And reach out the other to one needing His Love

Instrumental:

We don’t have to accept our world’s hate

Because God’s Love

Led David to conquer Goliath, Moses to part the sea
Led Jesus to rise above dying saving you and me
So understand when they come face to face
God’s Love obliterates hate

God’s Love

Led David to conquer Goliath, Moses to part the sea
Led Jesus to rise above dying saving you and me
So understand when they come face to face
God’s Love obliterates hate
God’s Love obliterates hate

Wink WAS BORN IN A MANGER
Posted by: gruvEdude - 10-18-2017, 07:35 PM - Forum: Lyric Critiques - No Replies

Not too long, and "Keep Christ in Christmas" will be protested, but Santa is okay? KJV words are okay for today?

WAS BORN IN A MANGER

Was born in a manger,
No room in the inn.
A jolly, fat man
Ho-ho-hos a grin.
The children are joyful
To have in their culture.
How could bringing toys
Be done by a vulture?

Unreal is Lord Jesus
Who talketh this way.
Not like those that live,
But died yesterday.
Good news is we’re saved
By faith in the Lamb.
Who is, was, will be,
Today’s word, I AM.

Wink WHO'S IN CONTROL?
Posted by: gruvEdude - 10-18-2017, 06:11 PM - Forum: Lyric Critiques - No Replies

WHO’S IN CONTROL?  Cool

Who’s in control,
Is it Jesus or me?
From how I behave,
What do you see?

I really care,
You know that I do.
That’s why I show,
To whom I am true.

Who’s in control,
Is it Jesus or me?
From how I behave,
What do you see?

Perfect, I’m not.
I’m guilty as sin.
I carry the load.
How can I win?

Who’s in control,
Is it Jesus or me?
From how I behave,
What do you see?

  Twenty-one
Posted by: pshell - 10-16-2017, 10:10 PM - Forum: Song Critiques - Replies (3)

Here's my song for October. See if you understand what it's about.

Twenty-one
Music & lyrics by Paul Shell

Cartoon prophets with bloody hands,
Hold the truth well out of reach,
While the camera stares unblinking,
At the hatred that they teach.
When murder is your gospel,
And your sacrament's a gun,
You can say that you're misunderstood.
All I see is twenty-one.

The kings and queens who rule the Earth,
Keep their aces up their sleeves.
They can't understand believers,
Because there's nothing they believe.
Politicians smile and wave,
As the bones bleach in the sun.
You can count the martyrs on each side.
All I see is Twenty-one.

You talk of peace but I hear,
There are rumors of a war.
Will you sell your cloak like Jesus said,
When the demons are at your door?
When saints are forced onto their knees,
And the killing has begun,
You can say that you're misunderstood.
All I see is twenty-one.

Walk on water stained with blood,
As the bride cries out to know,
Should we trade the cross of the peaceful Christ,
For the crosses of Clairvaux?
The angel rider draws his sword,
And the red horse makes its run.
You can count the martyrs on each side.
All I see is twenty-one.
All I see is twenty-one.
All I see is twenty-one.

  I believe (unfinished song)
Posted by: savedbygrace99 - 10-16-2017, 03:23 PM - Forum: Lyric Critiques - Replies (6)

Hi!
So I only have a verse and maybe either the chorus or a second verse for this song.. I don't know what to put next. Suggestions are welcome.

I believe your promises are true/
I believe when things are broken/
you can make them new/
I believe that You are only good/
You are the one I run to/
When things in this life are not understood/

So even in the breaking, even in my tears/
I will trust you Jesus, I know you'll meet me here/
Even in the waiting, no matter where I am/
I know that you, hold me in Your hands/
Even in the shadows, when I can't see the road/
I will remember, that I will never walk alone/

  Returning after a long absence

i joined and participated in the 2002-2003 time frame but now I’m starting with a new logon and password. I write a small amount of secular blues/country/funk but mostly contemporary Christian pop, praise and worship. I’m dated a bit in the late 80’s early 90’s period in my approach and my style, I like songs with a purpose such as story songs, songs that teach precepts or build faith. I’m average talent on guitar, bass, keys, drums and my vocal range is limited. Open to collaborating on words, lyrcs, melodies or to auditioning vocalists who can bring new relevance to the songs. Naturally I’m willing to do the same for others.

In addition to songwriting I’m an ordained minister who has led worship, pastored, taught, and done music ministry outreach in churches and coffeehouses including 24 hour worship services  so I’m open to participating in like events for others within reasonable driving range.

I still have some songs I recorded 10-15 years ago on soundclick in case anyone wants to peruse them. There is no charge to download, I never sell ministry though at rare times allow people to make a donation if they truly feel so led to defray costs of travel and recording but never to download my online music.

Smile FOREVER GREAT
Posted by: gruvEdude - 10-15-2017, 07:38 AM - Forum: Lyric Critiques - Replies (1)

FOREVER GREAT

My God and Lord, beyond my comprehension,
You made a plan to glorify your Name.
It's bad for me, when I shall stray and wander.
But even so, you love me just the same.

Chorus:
Forever great, your wisdom is supreme.
How could you choose, a child like me?
Forever great, your wisdom is supreme.
The Lamb of God, the Lamb of God.

The only way, oh yes, there is no other;
Not anyone, nor an imperfect me.
Not works but faith, will bring us your salvation.
So let us boast for all eternity.

Good news to share, You give to me that honor.
The first step's hard, but what a joy I'll see
When I proclaim, that You intend,
It's more like You, that You want us to be.
